Electricity Supply in Houses

Introduction

The standard electricity supply to houses is 2,200 w. However this can be increased by application and paying a fee to PLN, the state power company. Some houses already may have had the power supplied increased. Increases are made in set amounts, and each increase is at a set fee.

Certain electrical devices draw greater power needs. Houses with the standard 2,200 supply would not have enough power for example, to run lots of AC units and a toaster at the same time. The alternative to high power use is to turn electrical devices on and off or increase the power supply. Sometimes the landlord is prepared to increase the power and may include this as part of the rental negotiation. If not, it is not likely that they will be prepared to do it.

The GA Department, has good connections with the local PLN office and can readily arrange for PLN to increase power supply to your house.

Guideline for Calculating of Increasing Power

(Required Power Supply – Current Power Supply) x 775 = Amount need to be paid + Rp. 6000 (stamp duty) 

eg.    Current power supply 2200, Required power supply 3500
    Calculated: (3500 -2200) x 775 = Rp. 1.007.500 + Rp. 6000 (stamp duty)
eg.    Current power supply 4400, Required 10600
    Calculated: (10600-4400) x 775 = Rp. 4.805.000 + Rp. 6000 (stamp duty)
